For parents, step-parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and anyone who wants to get the Bay Area children they love outside more–a guide to the amazing outdoor opportunities we have around us. We are a husband and wife team who passionately love the outdoors and believe some of our best family experiences have happened on trails or camping around the Bay Area. Brian has worked as an outdoor educator and running coach while trying to log as many miles on Bay Area trails as possible. Victoria has taught children from 18 months old through adults, taking middle schoolers on backpacking trips and obsessively exploring new trails when not teaching. We hope this site will serve as a resource to help get you and your family outside more!
Do you post activities for non-profits? We have an upcoming event on Saturday, June 17 called Katie Train Activities Day at Ardenwood Historic Farm. This is the day before Father’s Day… come out to our train event a day early and beat the crowd! Katie is our little green locomotive that pulls the train at Ardenwood. We have a bunch of activities set up for children ages 6 and under: Ride the Katie Train to Deer Park and enjoy special train theme activities: BUILD a wooden train track, CREATE a town with our wooden blocks, PLAY engineer and run a locomotive around the SPCRR wooden train layout, TOSS beanbags into gondola cars, BLOW bazillions of bubbles on the lawn, READ train books and ENJOY a storytime at our Train Library, TODDLE through the Toot-A-Loo Tunnels, COLOR a picture of Katie, and POSE for a picture with our wooden cut-out of “Katie.” I have more details if you are interested, plus I have some nice photos. I hope to hear from you… Sue Burgess
